The character’s full name is Rice Shower. In Japanese she’s written as ライスシャワー (Raisu Shawā). In Simplified Chinese, fans call her 水稻 (Shuǐdào, literally “rice plant”), while in Russian she’s Райс Шауэр, and in Korean 라이스 샤워 (Raiseu Syawo). Across fandoms, she’s simply known as “Rice,” and among Japanese fans she’s sometimes nicknamed “Rai-chan” due to her small, adorable stature despite her serious vibe. Her name, like many Uma Musume, comes directly from the real-life racehorse Rice Shower, who became infamous in Japanese horse racing history.
